Hey! I’m spending 30 days building a series of tutorial videos and blog posts demonstrating how to use strategic tech tools that benefit startups. This is my tutorial on SurveyMonkey. If you’re interested in learning more about my project, you can view the full project here.

SurveyMonkey is a tool that allows you to make surveys for free. It can be incredibly helpful when you’re trying to get feedback on how to better your business.

I personally think surveys are a great addition to any website because it’s much more convenient to look at a survey overview with direct responses and know exactly what you need to change rather than looking through endless pages of reviews for relevant feedback.

Otherwise, I’ll give a quick overview of how you can create one!

Step 1: Create an Account

The first thing you want to do is create an account. You can do that here!

Next, if you already know what survey you’d like to make, click “Create Survey” to get started.

SurveyMonkey provides a panel at the top during the entire survey building process so you can switch between steps when needed.

Step 2: Design Survey

This is where you are able to create the exact type of survey that you want. To start with It gives you a list of options, pick the one that best suits your needs.

The next step will depend on which format you choose to go with but it will basically consist of editing your survey to look the way you want.

Step 3: Preview and Score

After you’ve finished the editing portion, preview your survey and make sure you like the way it looks.

Don’t forget to look at the difference between mobile and desktop to make sure everything is transitioning well.

Step 4: Share With Your Desired Audience and Collect Results

This last step is important. Make sure you share your survey with your entire audience. You can do this by embedding it on your website (view video above to learn how) or you could even send it out in a newsletter email list.

SurveyMonkey allows you to use up to 3 forms of sharing on the free version. But as long as you have people actually viewing the survey, you’re sure to get responses.

After you’ve gathered enough responses you can view the analytics and present your results on the final page.

Overall, a survey is a great addition to any website! I hope I’ve inspired you to start building!
